Electronic Gaming Federation Gains Intel and Alienware as Lead Sponsors for 2022 Walt Disney World® EGF High School National Championships

New York, NY / Santa Clara, CA / Round Rock, TX – The Electronic Gaming Federation (EGF), the leader in season-long varsity high school and collegiate esports competition, announced Intel® Corporation and Alienware as sponsors of the 2022 Walt Disney World® EGF High School National Championships. The event will be staged and streamed live from ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort on June 17-19, 2022.

The Walt Disney World® EGF High School National Championships features over 100 of the best high school esports teams from across the United States who have advanced this school year through the regular season and regional finals to qualify in Overwatch, Rocket League, and Super Smash Bros. Teams will go head-to-head on Alienware gaming systems powered by the latest 12th generation Intel® Core™ processors.

“Intel has led the way in esports since day one, so the chance to work with EGF, the recognized leader in interscholastic esports, and sponsor its high school National Championship with our OEM partner Alienware, is an exciting opportunity and a great way to celebrate the gaming community,” said Jeffrey R. Clark, US Retail Advocacy Manager at Intel. “Gamers of all ages and levels shop with our retail partners for desktops and laptops and trust that the Intel brand will take their game to new heights.”

In addition to helping high schools and colleges organize esports programs and team competitions, EGF works closely with member schools to create experiential learning opportunities for career development in related pursuits, such as broadcasting, content creation, marketing, and management.

“EGF is thrilled to have gaming-industry leaders, Intel and Alienware, partnering with us this season to fully empower our student-athletes and member schools highlighted by this showcase in-person event,” said Eric Johnson, CEO of EGF. “And to have many of our universities joining in-person to support and promote their programs proves that this educational path is available now as a reality.”

The 2022 Walt Disney World® EGF High School National Championships for Rocket League will be streamed live on the ESPN App, with the Finals airing on ESPNU. All competition will also stream on the Official EGF Twitch and YouTube channels.
