EDGE and EGF Partner to Advance K–16 Esports Education
The partnership aligns curriculum, professional learning, and competition for schools
New York, New York, February 10, 2026 — Esports Development and Growth Enterprise (EDGE) and Electronic Gaming Federation (EGF) today announced a strategic partnership to advance and scale educational esports programs across middle school, high school, and collegiate levels. The collaboration brings together EGF’s established K–16 competitive infrastructure with EDGE’s curriculum, consulting, and professional learning expertise to support schools, districts, and institutions seeking comprehensive, education-first esports solutions.
EGF is a North American esports organizing body founded in 2015 that oversees leagues for varsity-level collegiate, high school, and middle school teams. Working directly with schools and districts, EGF supports esports programs across competition, community, and education, offering structured pathways that mirror traditional athletic models while maintaining the unique culture of competitive gaming.
EDGE’s mission is to develop and grow the esports industry through education, consultation, and experience-driven expertise. The organization provides standards-aligned curriculum, educational content, and professional learning opportunities that help K–12 educators connect esports to career pathways, social and emotional learning (SEL), and student wellness. At the collegiate level, EDGE supports institutions through strategic consulting and academic program design to build sustainable esports ecosystems.
“EGF is the K–16 competition partner EDGE has been seeking to complement the meaningful esports experiences already taking place in the classroom,” said EDGE Managing Partner Zach Harrington. “This partnership intentionally connects competition, community, and curriculum, which we consider the three pillars of esports in education. Throughout our collaboration, EGF has consistently demonstrated its ability to deliver a premier competitive experience and a strong commitment to serving schools and students. Together, we are creating pathways that add value for learners, educators, and the esports industry as a whole.”
As part of the partnership, EDGE will offer its existing standards-aligned curriculum and educational content to EGF member schools, along with custom content packages designed to meet the unique needs of districts and institutions. EDGE will also support program development and growth through consulting and professional learning services for both K–12 and collegiate esports initiatives.
EGF will provide EDGE partners with immediate access to a premier K–16 competition ecosystem, supporting learners at each stage of their academic journey. EDGE will also support EGF’s District Partner Program, reinforcing a shared commitment to scalable, district-level implementation models that maximize impact across schools and communities.
Tyler Schrodt, Founder of EGF, said, "We're thrilled to be able to work with EDGE to expand the esports experience we can deliver to our member schools to include education. The programs that we've been collaborating with EDGE on give students and coaches access to real-life experiences, curriculum, and certifications that we strongly believe are going to help push the standards for K-12 esports forward. EDGE has been a phenomenal partner, and we're excited to launch all of our new offerings this Spring and Fall!"
In addition to current offerings, EDGE and EGF will collaborate with trusted international partners who are leaders in esports, gaming, and wellness to launch U.S.-based credentials and certifications for both learners and staff. The organizations will also co-develop industry-aligned certifications and micro-credentials designed to strengthen professional portfolios and connect educational esports participation to future academic and career opportunities.
Together, EDGE and EGF are establishing a unified model for educational esports that connects competition, community, and curriculum, giving schools and districts a clearer, more sustainable path to building impactful programs.
